I was given a copy of this book by the author. I enjoyed reading it and found her to be a compelling storyteller. The jar became metaphorical in many different ways throughout the story, and it stayed with me long after I finished the book. She did an excellent job showing how each character was shaped and strengthened by the generation before them, while also carrying something meaningful forward to the next generation. Each woman in the story is strong, memorable, and worth getting to know. I gave my copy of the book to a college student who I hope will both enjoy the story and take away some valuable life lessons from it.
