Here Lies Dahlia is an unflinching descent through the wreckage of an obsessive, all-consuming love, unfolding across five stages: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, Depression, and Acceptance. The poems are gothic and feverish, thick with ravens and rot, Medusa and Selene, cathedrals of ribs and graveyards behind the house. Through all of it, Harshita Mehta writes grief in every form it takes: seductive, humiliating, and funny in its madness. It's for readers who enjoy confessional and dark poetry. Harshita Mehta has a Master's in English Literature and a lasting pull toward the darker, heavier corners of human emotion. She has a fondness for dramatic metaphors and the occasional existential crisis, and when she isn't writing, she paints or plays chess. Here Lies Dahlia is her debut collection, proof that if you bury enough feelings, they eventually grow back as poetry. She's currently at work on a novel and short stories.
